Open CTI & Salesforce Voice
Salesforce Voice, Service Cloud Voice and Agentforce Contact Center: what’s the difference?
RocketCX ·

Service Cloud Voice is an older name for Salesforce’s integrated telephony offerings. Salesforce Voice appears across subsequent documentation, but its telephony models now sit within Partner Contact Center or Agentforce Contact Center.
The important distinction is who provides the telephony. A change of product name does not establish your architecture, licences or migration requirements.
Why are several names still in use?
Salesforce’s official naming reference says its Help articles, developer documentation and application are being updated. Older names remain visible.
An existing package, support article and new proposal may therefore use different names for the same telephony model.
When reviewing documentation, identify the model it describes before following its instructions.

What was Service Cloud Voice?
Service Cloud Voice connected telephony with the Salesforce agent workspace. Its name appeared in both partner-telephony and Amazon Connect offerings.
“Service Cloud Voice” alone therefore does not tell you whether a deployment uses an external provider, Salesforce-provisioned Amazon Connect or the customer’s own Amazon Connect environment.
Record the full product variant when documenting an existing implementation.
What does Salesforce Voice mean?
Salesforce Voice is another name you will encounter across these integrations. The qualifying words matter:
- With Partner Telephony: a supported external telephony integration.
- With Amazon Connect: the Salesforce-provisioned Amazon Connect model.
- With Partner Telephony from Amazon Connect: the model connecting your own Amazon Connect environment.
- Native Telephony: Salesforce’s built-in telephony model.
These are different deployment choices, rather than successive versions every customer must adopt.
How do the old and current names map?
| Earlier name | Current terminology |
|---|---|
| Salesforce Voice with Partner Telephony / Service Cloud Voice with Partner Telephony | Partner Contact Center Voice |
| Salesforce Voice with Amazon Connect / Service Cloud Voice with Amazon Connect | Partner Contact Center with Amazon Connect |
| Salesforce Voice with Partner Telephony from Amazon Connect | Partner Contact Center with Amazon Connect, bring your own |
| Salesforce Voice Native Telephony | Agentforce Contact Center Voice |
Salesforce’s Trailhead material also uses “Partner Contact Center with Telephony from Amazon Connect” for the bring-your-own model. Confirm the underlying environment instead of relying on the label alone.

What is Partner Contact Center?
Partner Contact Center is Salesforce’s offering for organisations using third-party telephony or contact centre providers.
That includes supported provider integrations and Amazon Connect models. It does not mean every existing telephony adapter is compatible.
For an existing provider, confirm the supported connector and package version. For Amazon Connect, establish whether Salesforce provisions the environment or your organisation operates it.
Those decisions affect configuration, billing and operational ownership.
What is Agentforce Contact Center?
Agentforce Contact Center is Salesforce’s unified contact centre offering. Its built-in voice channel is now called Agentforce Contact Center Voice.
This differs from connecting an external provider through Partner Contact Center. Salesforce’s native model supplies the telephony rather than relying on a separate third-party telephony service.
Regional eligibility still needs checking. As of 2 November 2026, Salesforce’s customer FAQ states US and Canada availability, while its UK pricing page displays a Contact Centre package.
Those pages do not establish the same availability position. UK teams should obtain confirmation of purchasing eligibility, supported countries and number availability before selecting this route.

Is Agentforce Voice the same thing?
No. Agentforce Voice enables AI agents to understand and respond to spoken customer interactions.
It describes an AI capability, not another name for the complete contact centre or every Salesforce telephony integration.
Scope the telephony migration and any autonomous AI use cases separately. Confirm the licences, supported configuration and requirements for each.

What does this mean for an Open CTI migration?
Salesforce has scheduled Open CTI retirement for 28 February 2028. Choosing the replacement requires more detail than “move to Salesforce Voice”.
Ask for five explicit answers:
- Which exact product and telephony model are proposed?
- Who supplies and operates the telephony environment?
- Which connector, package and prerequisites apply?
- Which Salesforce licences, provider charges and optional AI capabilities are included?
- Is the proposed configuration supported in every required region?
Document those answers in the target design and statement of work. That prevents a terminology shortcut from becoming an architecture or procurement assumption.
